Helping cultural institutions show up with clarity
Creative direction and brand alignment for museums, nonprofits, and mission-driven organizations
✦ Every so often, I share posts like this to highlight the kind of creative leadership work I do with companies in transition. If you're here for poetry or reflective writing, those continue as always. But if you're navigating change and looking for clarity in how your brand shows up, this might speak to you.
Cultural institutions do some of the most meaningful work in the world. But that doesn’t make communicating it any easier.
I often work with museums, galleries, and nonprofits that are juggling ambitious programming, grant cycles, community outreach, and a growing list of digital demands, all while trying to stay true to their values. The mission is strong. The team is passionate. But the creative direction starts to feel scattered.
The message is still there. But it’s not landing.
The visuals feel off. The materials don’t match.
The brand voice loses consistency across channels.
This is where I come in, not just as a creative partner, but as someone who can hold the whole picture.
I work as a Fractional Creative Director, helping mission-driven organizations create structure around how they show up. That means refining messaging, elevating visuals, and aligning everything so the public-facing brand feels as thoughtful as the work behind it.
And because I run The Copper Portico, I bring in my creative team to carry that strategy through to execution: from publications and reports to visual systems, campaigns, and brand refinement.
One of the organizations I’ve been honored to support is Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami. Over the past five years, we’ve collaborated with their internal team on a wide range of creative work, from digital campaigns and public programs to ADA-compliant reports and fundraising materials. Each project has required a mix of strategic thinking, visual sensitivity, and deep respect for their mission.
That’s the kind of work I love most:
Helping organizations preserve their essence while evolving how they communicate it.
Because staying relevant shouldn’t mean watering things down. It should mean showing up with more clarity, more resonance, and a brand that actually reflects the depth of what you do.
If your organization is navigating change, expanding its reach, or simply trying to bring more consistency to your brand, I’d love to support that work. You can view a selection of our creative collaborations with Vizcaya here.
